REPAIR, REPLACEMENT & INSTALLATION
If your garbage disposal jammed, clogged, leaking, or not draining, we can help. We've provided some tips below of how to troubleshoot your waste disposal and if you still have issues, feel free to give us a call.
Make sure to turn off the power supply to the garbage disposal.
Almost every garbage disposal has a reset button at the on the bottom. If it gets jammed, there's a little garbage disposal wrench that allows you to turn the disposal and free it up.
Once you've dislodged the food stuck inside, press the reset button and turn on the disposal.
To fix a garbage disposal that doesn’t work:
-
-
- Push the reset button on the bottom of the disposal and then try it.
- Make sure its cord is plugged into a working electrical outlet or check the circuit breaker, you may need to reset the circuit breaker as well.
-
If water builds up in the sink it could be a clogged pipe or could be that the garbage disposal is not draining; therefore problem generally would be the garbage disposal drain, not the disposal unit
If the garbage disposal leaks into the cabinet, you’ll need to find out where the leak is coming from. First verify the pipes (especially all connections) in the area under the sink. If the disposal itself is leaking, it could mean that it's time to replace your garbage disposal; we can help.
If all the above advice does not work, you’ll need professional help. We, at SMART Plumbing, are just a phone call away.
